If wanting for cut flowers, the key to getting long stems is to plant the bulb at least 30 cm deep. Pick when the colour is just starting to show. Remove flower still attached to the bulb. The stem of the flower will continue to grow approximately 10cm once picked. Enjoy the flower until the very end (i.e. petals falling off - its still beautiful!).
If leaving in the garden, plant deep and enjoy the flower each year. Note: the bulb quality may diminish over time.
